Dismantling of structures, partial or final collection, extraction of anthropological remains
Preparation of technical reports on the dismantling of structures, treatment and collection of all types of non-extinguished remains using appropriate, non-compacting materials, anthropological studies by specialised technicians, always in accordance with the guidelines established by current legislation on the protection of the archaeological heritage.
How are the remains handled?
As the archaeological excavation progresses, it may be necessary to remove the most superficial remains which, due to their small size and location, prevent or hinder the correct excavation and/or interpretation of the remains of previous phases. In these cases, the demolition of the remains must be considered, always in accordance with the decisions and instructions of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, following an archaeological report and an official request for demolition. The demolition of any of the remains found during the archaeological intervention requires the preparation of an explicit demolition report, drawn up by the technical director, indicating the characteristics of the remains, the chronology and the reasons for demolition.
During this type of archaeological intervention, unforeseen events may occur, such as the consolidation/restoration in situ of some movable elements or structures, the restoration of archaeological materials, or the carrying out of analyses.
